The Hive is one of several Family Hubs across Stoke-on-Trent – safe, welcoming spaces where families can access a wide range of support and resources. During this special session, we brought a burst of digital energy to the space, helping learners of all ages boost their confidence, discover new technologies, and open doors to future opportunities.
We kicked things off with the fundamentals of digital confidence — how to stay safe online, access essential services, and use everyday tools like email, search engines, and cloud storage.
But this wasn’t just a crash course in technology. It was about future-proofing. That’s why we went a step further, exploring the power of Artificial Intelligence and why it’s vital in the modern world. Learners got hands-on with tools like ChatGPT, seeing first-hand how AI can support everything from writing CVs to planning weekly meals.
We also introduced learners to employability-focused digital tools, helping them navigate job searches, build professional profiles, and understand how to present themselves confidently in the digital space.
Every learner at the session was onboarded to Wavemaker’s DigitAll learning platform – a growing hub of self-paced courses covering essential digital, employment, health, and future-focused skills. It's not just about one day of learning - it's about a journey.
To make sure that learning doesn’t stop once the session ends, we provided each participant with a brand new Chromebook. These devices will allow learners to continue developing their digital skills, support their children’s learning, and access the world of opportunities available online.
This isn’t just empowerment - it’s digital inclusion in action. It's giving families the tools, knowledge, and confidence to take control of their futures.
A massive thank you to The Hive Family Hub team for hosting us and supporting the session so wholeheartedly. Together, we’re creating stronger communities and more connected families.
