Last week, two new Wavemaker Connect hubs were set up at The Owen Project in Penkhull and Affordable Foods in Blurton.
Each site now has access to ten Chromebooks, and a 55” display screen, creating a welcoming digital space for local residents to develop their skills, connect with others, and enhance their employment prospects and wellbeing.

The Owen Project is a community-focused initiative in Penkhull, providing activities, workshops, and support to help local people thrive. Affordable Foods works to reduce food insecurity by offering budget-friendly groceries and essential items, promoting healthy living within the community. Both organisations now host a dedicated Digital Champion, someone empowered to drive digital transformation and help community members make the most of our DigitAll platform. Through one-to-one support and group activities, these Champions will ensure everyone can access the tools and knowledge needed to participate in an increasingly digital world.
Establishing these hubs is just the first step. By fostering local ownership and building confidence in using technology, we aim to support lasting digital growth. Our goal is to empower each community to harness digital tools for social connections, personal development, and broader opportunities, ensuring no one is left behind.
